PRE & POST LASH CARE
It's you time finally to shine
PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS
To maximize the longevity of your eyelash extensions and the amount of eyelash extension application time, HAVE no eye makeup on. Having makeup-free/clean eyelashes will dramatically increase the life of your eyelash extensions and will also increase the number of eyelash extensions you will have applied.
If you wear contacts, we recommend that you please wear glasses to your appointment. The Contact lens must be removed during eyelash extension application.
Listen to your Lash Artist: Length, weight, style, and design are individual-specific—if your lash Artist says NO to a specific length or look, it’s for your good.
POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS
To maximize the life of your eyelash extensions, please follow these after-care instructions:
Wait 24 Hours before allowing steam, saunas, hot tubs and sweating to come in contact with your eyes. If you wear contacts, please wait before reinserting them and use the least amount of contact solution possible for proper placement. Please blot excess solution with tissue and avoid pooling solution, re-wetting drops, or tears from pooling around eyes.
Never: Use waterproof mascara or eyeliner on eyelash extensions. Most mascara and eyeliners contain ingredients and oils that will break down the glue's bond. In addition, the removal of waterproof mascara or eyeliner requires an oil-based solution for removal, which will cause the extensions to fall off prematurely.
If you must wear mascara or liquid eyeliner, please note that mascara and eyeliner will break the bond and the adhesive, which will damage the extensions. This will result in a higher extension loss rate. If choosing to use mascara or eyeliner, it is crucial to use a
NON-OIL BASED remover as oils will loosen extensions and shorten the lifespan of your lash extensions.
ONLY USE OIL-FREE: ( water-based products only) products to remove eye makeup. When removing eye makeup, use a makeup sponge gently to cleanse the area.
NEVER: Use an eyelash curler or cut the extensions; this can permanently damage the extensions but also your natural eyelashes.
Please schedule an appointment, If you would like to remove your eyelash extensions. Attempting to remove extensions yourself is NOT RECOMMENDED, as it may cause breakage or loss of your natural lashes,
The lash cycle is approximately 4-12 weeks. Do Not be alarmed if some of your lashes fall out quickly (they most likely were at the end of their cycle). The majority of extensions will stay through a complete cycle if you follow the guidelines.
Keep your lashes clean by using the "lash-shampoo" provided in your home care kit. Clean lashes are important as debris build-up like dirt, make-up, etc. This can cause the adhesive to wear out faster.
Gently comb your lashes while they are dry to prevent any crisscrossing lashes. Be sure to schedule your refill appointment every 2-3 weeks; this will keep your lashes looking Full and Beautiful!
Each eye sheds approximately 2-5 lashes per day. On average, this is 3 lashes per eye, per day:
-
In the first week, you will lose 21 lashes per eye.
-
In the 2nd week, you will lose 42 lashes per eye.
-
In the 3rd week, you will lose 63 lashes per eye.
To maintain a complete look, infills are needed every 2-3 weeks – you need to have at least 40-50% of your lashes on for your appointment to qualify as an infill. If you have less than that left or your lashes are in poor condition, we might have to remove the remaining extensions and start from the beginning.
Please note that infills done more than 3 weeks after your last appointment are considered as a new full set.
-
WHAT SHOULD I DO UPON ARRIVAL?Please arrive at your appointment with a completely clean eye area. Clean lashes and eye area with a water-based cleanser removing all makeup, eye creams, and moisturizers. Any residue of these products will affect the adhesive bonding from the extension to the natural lash. It is also recommended to avoid caffeine before your lash appointment. Fluttery eyes can cause the eye to open slightly, which can be irritating due to the fumes of the adhesive. Save the coffee for after your lash nap.
-
CAN I USE MAKEUP REMOVER ON MY EYES?WATER-BASED ONLY makeup remover may be used on and around the eye area- we highly recommend Beauty Blooms Lash Foaming Lash Bath. Eye makeup removers are often oil-based. Oil will break down the adhesive used to place and attach lash extensions. If you use an oil cleanser for the rest of your face, avoid getting any on or around your eye area/eyelashes.
-
CAN I USE LASH SERUM WITH EXTENSIONS?Yes, lash serum can still be applied to the lash line while having extensions on. Please wait to use it 24 hours after your appointment.
-
SHOULD I WASH MY LASHES?Keeping your extensions clean is vital in lash upkeep. Properly cleansing your lashes and the eye area will only benefit the longevity of your extensions. Eyelashes are a natural defence shield for your eyes, protecting them from dead skin, dust, pollutants, and other particles. This accumulates on natural lashes and can also occur on your extensions. Properly cleansing your lashes daily will eliminate build-up and prevent the adhesive on lash extensions from breaking down. We highly recommend using Beauty Blooms Foaming Lash Bath.
-
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY EXTENSIONS FILLED?Eyelash extensions shed with your natural lash cycle. Lash refill services are recommended to be done every 2-3 weeks, depending on the individual, to maintain a full appearance.
-
What is the process of lash extensionsThe lash artist will consult with each new client to better understand the look they would like to achieve. All questions and concerns should be addressed at this time. After the consultation, the client will lie back on a comfortable recliner chair with their eyes closed throughout the entire service. Most find this process very relaxing, similar to a spa-like service.
-
What are eyelash extensions?Eyelash extensions are a way to enhance your lashes to make them longer and thicker. To achieve this single strands of synthetic lashes that replicate a natural lash are individually applied to a single lash one at a time.
-
How long do extensions last, and when should I get refills?About every 2-3 weeks you need a refill to maintain the full look. If not, they can last up to 3 weeks before they naturally fall off. (To be considered a refill, at least 40% of lash extensions must be remaining)
-
What is the difference between classic, hybrid and volume lashes? With a classic set, a single lash is applied to a natural lash, volume lashes are a process of applying multi-dimensional lashes ranging from 2D-10D to a single lash. Hybrid is a combination of these procedures.
-
How should I take care of my new eyelash extensions? For the first 24 hours, do not get your lashes wet or go tanning. When removing makeup using an oil-free remover, do not rub or pick at your lashes when using mascara. Avoid using an eyelash curler, steam, heat, saunas and friction. Brush your lashes daily from top to bottom. We highly recommend Beauty Blooms Foaming Lash Bath to wash the lashes; it's an oil-free cleanser. Rinse with cool water and pat dry with a clean towel. Once extensions are dry, comb with the mascara wand brush.
-
How should I prepare for my eyelash extension appointment?Cleanse your eyes and do not apply any eye makeup. Be prepared to lay down for at least an hour on your back with your eyes closed. If you use contact lenses bring the supplies to store them while we complete the service and you can re-apply them afterwards. Feel free to bring headphones or earbuds to listen to the music of choice or have a nap.
-
Will eyelash extensions ruin my natural lashes or cause them to fall out?The extensions won’t cause your natural lashes to fall out or affect their health in any way. When applying lashes, a stylist will only apply the lash to a natural adult lash. The young (baby) lashes are left so they can fully develop for the next time you get a refill. Your natural lashes have a life cycle of growing and falling out, and when a synthetic lash is attached, it will be much more noticeable. (When lash extensions are removed, your own lashes may seem smaller only because you have become accustomed to the look of the eyelash extensions)
-
What can I do after the appointment? You can swim, shower and exercise as the bonding agent we use are waterproof. We recommend you do not get water on the lashes for at least 24 hours after the service. This will prolong the life of your extensions as it allows the glue to completely dry.
